A little bit country

 Simple but cute.

I spray painted this basket. It was a brownish one. too bright needed to mute it.
Simple .. kinda Country.. You know how hard it was for me to just leave as is.. I wanted to mess with it. really I did. Im trying so hard to keep it simple .. Just sometimes....

oh natural meets Palm bark

So this is the last day of class. And once again Betty says:" Use whatever you can find  in the class".
I found this Palm bark.. I placed all the foliage and mums in an Oasis and this is what I got.

A little goes a long way. I like how I used a lot of foliage and little flowers. And very inexpensive to boot
We have this "palm stuff" all over the grounds in San Diego CA.. All you have to do is look. Especially after a rain storm. Yes we get those... Like two times a year..
I love this little curve to it.
Nice support for the arrangement. This aint going no where.
Please ignore the glue in the front.. I didn't have time to cover it.
AHH such a simple but strong and hardy flower
Now I normally wouldn't  have chose any of these items. But I was forced to. Its a good thing because I need to work out of my normal colors and experiment a little.
Sorry bout that stuff in the front.. Remember I found this in the class... Mercy please. I could easy move some greens on top of it..

I like working with oddball material and thinking: "Gee what I can do with this." I absolutely do not like working with vases and barely like working with your normal containers. Well I guess let me rephrase that I will do it BUT Id rather not.. Not unless I can spray paint it!
Until next time

Fun and Fab Feathers

Betty ( my teacher ) said to just go around the room and find what ever and make something on this day. so here you go.
This bowl is actually really small. You could probably put a cup of rice in it.
Over to the right I found some really cool feathers. I just plooped them in there.. .
Just an added something. I actually did this one first but didn't like it. So I pulled it all apart. Then Betty asked me what I did with it .. I said I destroyed it.. She laughed ... So I decided to put it back together... Just for her.It kind of looks like a cupcake with a little candle in the middle.
I actually like this design I have never seen anything like it. I guess thats why the different the better for me I guess. at least for now.
The End ...

Formal Linear

 This is called Formal Linear
Of German Origin. they are true hybrid in mass designs that comprise both Oriental Linearity and European mass. They are referred to as "High style designs"

A closer look at these beautiful Petals. I cut  them off a tree just outside our classroom.. I just wish I could remember what it was called. In fact everything here is from the outside except the broom greens in the background.
Here is another item( the brown "dead" bark) that I found in the garden just lying there. So I thought it would be nice to have in the arrangement

This container was found in the classroom it was an ugly shiny orange. I just HAD to use the container and spray it this wonderful Gold
Formal linear designs are clearly defined lines and angles which you would use unusual material forms. Showcasing distinctive materials , strong lines and interesting shapes
Side View
The Clean distinct lines created with the floral materials may be straight and or curved and the straight lines maybe vertical horizontal and or diagonal. These strong lines should create a feeling of movement and should converge in the center.
What I am finding out is I love "LESS is MORE" and I love working with color making sure that it complements each-other. Not a miss match of stuff. I love simple but I do need to refrain not using ALL of what the teacher gives us. In fact the only thing I used that the teacher gave us was the greens. Everything else I found outside. I even shoveled up some small rocks with my hands and placed them in the container.
Thanks for stopping by.
What I learned is Less is more and I love this style!

Carlsbad Flower Fields SHOW

Well here is the beginning of my journey here in Carlsbad. I know you most likely cant read it.. It says "The Flower Fields"

And so the show begins. Here you can see the buckets of Ranunculus. I was really glad they had plenty to work with. I would sure hope so. Thats what they grow here. Fields and Fields of it.

Ok so here I go.. I am starting to glue all of my Ranunculus tops on the tree. I chose to do this because the flower has a very fragile stem. I thought what the heck. I am going to cut off all  the stems. Problem solved.

And So here is the finish product. I just love my little hidden Easter eggs.

Hmm what am I holding up? What could it be? You really cant see it..
I came in 2nd place.Im a bit surprised myself. There were so many amazing and talented designers. Voting was done by the people. Not by judges.

I thought this was the best pic. With the outside sky. Why did I chose this design? Mainly because I knew this was a family event and I wanted to make sure it was a fun design. Not really meant to be an elegant or to be judged by the experts.

Well this is it folks. Thanks for all your love and support. It means so much to me. They say that The Del Mar fair is next. Hmmm not so sure about that quite yet.
